Cover of 'Stray Cat Strut' by the Stray Cats on Moore Ukulele #134 The Cat Bowl Resonator
Moore Ukulele #134 The Cat Bowl Resonator...a little soprano with a raspy reso tone. The body and neck are made of Spalted Buckeye. The fretboard and hand-carved cat head headstock inlay are Cherry. The fish skeleton inlay is Mother of Pearl and the fretboard triangle is Abalone. Side marker dots are Black Poplar. The top rim is Sinker Cypress (old-growth cut in the late 1800s recovered from a SC river by my friend Alec Blalock ). The string tie bar is bone and the cat bowl is stainless steel. Time in A Bottle, High G Low G comparison
This is a comparison of a Tenor High G (Moore Ukulele #122) and a Concert Low G (Moore Ukulele #123). Doing a Little bit of Jim Croce's 'Time In A Bottle' These were both made with Buckeye Burl on the top with natural sound holes. The sides, backs and necks are Deodar Cedar from a tree my grandfather planted in the 1940’s. The tree was struck by lightning a few years ago and had to be cut down. The bridge and fretboards are made from Rosewood.
